Uzbekistan joined the Governing Council of the Asia-Pacific Technology Transfer Center. Uzbekistan was elected one of the members of the Council until 2023.

This decision was made at the 76th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The meeting was planned to be held in Bangkok, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, the event was held online.

In addition to 51 Member States, 3 associate members and 8 observer countries attended the session.

Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Uzbekistan joined te Council for the next three-year term (from 2020 to 2023).

It was also decided to hold the 77th session of the ESCAP Commission on April 26-30, 2021 at the UN Conference Center in Bangkok (Thailand).
