On June 3, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Measures to Further Streamline Foreign Economic Activity and Stimulate Development of Domestic Motor Vehicles Market Decree, the Ministry of Justice said.
The Decree cancels the current excise duties starting from August 1 for importing:
- tractors (HS code - 8701);
- motor vehicles for the transport of 10 people or more (8702);
- cars of cars and other motor vehicles intended mainly for the transport of people (except 8702), including utility vehicles and vans and racing cars (8703);
- motor vehicles for the transport of goods (8704);
In addition, the decree removes the HS codes from “8701 20 90” to “8704 32 990 7” or 92 items from the list of excisable items:
Currently the excise rate on car imports is 30%, except of cars manufactured in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, for which the excise rate is 2% of the customs value.
It is worth noting that when importing a car into the country now it is necessary to pay VAT (15%), customs duty and excise tax.
