President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the presidential press service said.
The two leaders reviewed in detail the incident at the Chashma border section, emphasized the importance of taking comprehensive measures to prevent a recurrence of such a situation and commended the outcomes of the negotiations of government delegations.
An agreement was reached to step up efforts aimed at resolving existing the problems in the bilateral ties and identifying new points of growth in cooperation, primarily in the trade, economic, investment, and transport and communication areas.
In this regard, the counterparts supported proposal to hold regular meetings of the joint intergovernmental commission and the council of heads of administrations of the border regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
They pointed to the need for continued close coordination and interagency exchanges to counteract the consequences of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and also exchanged views on pressing issues of the international and regional agenda.
The heads of state reiterated their commitment to strengthening relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
