The chief researcher at the Virology Research Institute, professor of epidemiology, Khayrulla Mustafayev, told under what conditions the lockdown regime will be completely lifted in Uzbekistan.
“The special commission has extended the lockdown, but enterprises and agriculture have now resumed activities. It is necessary to support the economy, provide food for the population. Production cannot be halted over such a long period of time,” he said in an interview to New Uzbekistan.
“The complete lifting of the lockdown regime means lifting restrictions on international arrivals. But it is impossible to quarantine all those arriving. Therefore, our borders are still closed. We need to wait until the pandemic ends in foreign countries, especially among our close neighbors,” he added.
He stressed that the government will end the lcokdown when there is no threat of a virus from abroad.
