President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the ties with international financial institutions in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the presidential press service said.
This year, it is planned to disburse US$ 2.7 billion provided by international and foreign financial institutions. Most of these funds are from the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Existing projects are optimized based on the current situation, and funds are to be allocated primarily for the medical sector.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed to the need to accelerate the process of attracting and disbursing US$ 277 million for the Uzbek health sector to counter the pandemic.
Instructions were given to equip the hospitals under construction in the Zangiata district and the quarantine zone in the Yukorichirchik district of Tashkent province with modern medical equipment with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank.
The Ministry of Health has been given the task of purchasing 2,300 mechanical ventilation devices (VD) and other medical equipment for the US$ 30 million from the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.
The ordered 2300 ventilators are planned to be installed in the hospital under construction in the Zangiata district. At present, Uzbekistan has a reserve of approximately 1000 ventilation devices, the source said.
It is also planned to raise US $ 700 million to support entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized businesses during the pandemic.
As reported earlier the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan plans to launch the production of mechanical ventilation apparatus (IVL) together with partners from Russia and Slovakia.
