Dilfuza Uralova has been appointed as the new mayor of Syrdarya’s Boyovut district, the mayor’s press service said. She became the only female khokim among the current heads of regions, cities and regions of Uzbekistan.
The former district mayor, Ulmasjon Mamadaminov was moved to another job.
Before that, Dilfuza Uralova since 2017 had worked as deputy mayor of Syrdarya province/chair of provincial department of the Women's Committee. In 2015−2017 - Member of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
In 2010−2015, she was deputy mayor of Mirzaobod district region, and before that, since 2001, she worked as a school principal.
The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on several ocassions, said he would be promoting more female leaders stating they were less corrupt and by way more responsible.
