In Uzbekistan, in March of this year it is planned to publish the first openness index of government bodies, the lower house’s Information Committee chairman, Ilhom Abdullayev said.

According to the MP, it is big time that the executive bodies introduce various techniques to measure their effectiveness.

"We are working on the launch of the Openness Index. A special monitoring group is gathering data as of January 1, 2017. This is quiet a complicated process, I think it will take about two months. Approximately by March 1 we will publish it. It will be the first full index of openness of government bodies in the history of Uzbekistan", - Ilhom Abdullayev said.

Initially 47 government bodies will be included in the index. These data will enable the public to understand which of the ministries or local governing body are working better, the MP added. The criteria for evaluating the government bodies used in the index are given in the Government Bodies Openness Law.

"For each criterion a government body will receive from 0 to 2 points. It is also planned to use special coefficients, however, the ultimate goal of drawing up the index after all is the mere numbers:. It is important that those bodies who are ranked low, try to improve situation ", - Ilhom Abdullayev concluded.
