Joint Uzbek-Tajik military drills were held at the Gurumsaray training ground of the Eastern Military District as part of the Center-2019 strategic drills, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Under the supervision of the command, the military personnel of the two countries successfully completed the combat mission. According to the scenario, the destruction of imaginary terrorist groups was carried out in two episodes.
A unit of the Emergency Management Department of the Namangan province, the militarized fire department of the Chust district and the ambulance service of the troops of the Eastern Military District were also involved in the drills, all of them also successfully completed the tasks.
According to the Ministry, the drill served to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries, enhance the border security and improve the practical skills of military personnel. The main objectives of the command post exercises have been achieved.
At the closing ceremony, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, Colonel Shavkat Mamadjanov, First Deputy Commander of the Ground Forces of Tajikistan, Major General Ihtiyor Okhunzoda Nematullo, Commander of the Eastern Military District, Colonel Lutfullo Buzrukov and Deputy governor of the Namangan province Bakhrom Nurmatov made closing speeches.
