At a meeting of the Uzbek-Russian intergovernmental commission on labor migration in Krasnoyarsk, Uzbekistan requested to extend the timeline for registration of its citizens in Russia - from 7 to 15 days from the date of arrival.

Such a registration period is already valid for the nationals of Tajikistan.

In addition, the Uzbek side has prepared a draft intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and Russia on the mutual recognition of medical examination card of migrant workers.

, an agreement on recruitment of labor migrants has been in force Since December 2017between Uzbekistan and Russia. To this end, a representative office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation was opened in Uzbekistan for hiring of potential foreign workers and for their preliminary training.

According to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Uzbek migrants make up about one tenth of all those who come to work in the Russian Federation — about 1 million people.
