Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have discussed simplifying visa procedures to boost tourist flows between the two countries, the Tourism Committee said.

Committee chairman Abdulaziz Akkulov met Mohammed Abunayyan, co-chair of the Uzbekistan-Saudi Business Council and chairman of ACWA Power, according to the committee.

The talks covered easing visa rules, promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential on the Saudi market and creating tour packages tailored to local tourists, the committee said.

The sides also exchanged views on increasing direct flights and seasonal charter services, and on strengthening cooperation among tourism companies.

Participants also discussed attracting Saudi investors to tourism infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan, drawing up master plans for tourism areas and developing public-private partnerships, the committee said.

Saudi Arabia earlier implemented a multiple-entry umrah visa valid for one year. Holders can enter the country several times, with a stay of up to 90 days per visit.
