Abolishment of visas for tourists from 27 countries arriving in Uzbekistan, which was to take effect from 1 April 2017, has been postponed until 1 January 2021. This postponement has been laid by the Dec 22 Presidential Decree.

Recall that pursuant to the Dec 2 Presidential Decree it was planned to cancel from 1 April, 2017 the visa regime for citizens of 15 countries and travelers aged 55 years and over of 12 countries.

According to the new decree, the decision to postpone the abolishment of visas has been taken to ensure "sustainable and balanced development of tourism industry and creation of necessary infrastructure, safety of foreign tourists and the citizens of the country" and the "development of equitable economic cooperation with foreign countries."

The document stresses that the proposal to postpone the abolishment of visas had been prepared by the Tourism Development Committee, Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry, the Customs Committee and other ministries and agencies.
