The biggest problem is that the Uzbekistan education system cannot provide the labor market with qualified specialists, the Labor Minister Sherzod Kudbiyev said today at a press briefing.

“The biggest problem is that the education system cannot provide the labor market with qualified specialists. Employers have no longer trust in university diplomas, because the diploma holders are underqualified. Colleges [vocational] have not proved themselves valuable. The time has come to openly admit it, but this does not mean that we should close them all. It’s just that the education system was not properly organized,” he said.

However, the colleges on their own are not to blame, as the corruption and lack of meritocracy were to blame, not the educational institutions. And we agree with the minister that there is barely anyone in Uzbekistan, who is sufficiently qualified to the position he holds, even the ministers.

On July 20, 2018, at the Institute of Nuclear Physics the President Mirziyoyev talked with representatives of the Academy of Sciences and research institutes, academics, scientists, young researchers.

“Due to the fact that the results of R&D were not introduced into our lives, the level of development in all areas has dropped. People lack knowledge. Let me tell you the truth: a [vocational] college graduate cannot write a mere application request. This is our reality,” the president said during his speech.
