The Romanian Cinema Days will take place in Tashkent on December 22-23, 2025. This cultural event is part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Organized by the Romanian Embassy in Tashkent and the Uzbekistan Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture, the event will be a true celebration for Uzbek audiences.
The grand opening of the Romanian Cinema Days will take place on December 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Alisher Navoi Cinema Palace (Panorama Cinema, 15 Alisher Navoi Street).
Following the opening ceremony, the film "Warboy" (2023) by director Marian Crișan will be screened. This touching film takes place in the fall of 1944, during World War II. A teenager named Nicu embarks on a journey through the wilds of the Romanian mountains, trying to save his family's horses.
According to the program, "Horia" (2023) will be shown at the Panorama Cinema on December 23, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Directed by Ana-Maria Comănescu, this remarkable adventure film tells the story of a teenager who sets off on a journey across Romania on his father's old motorcycle. Along the way, a 13-year-old girl named Stela joins him, and an unexpected friendship blossoms between them.
The Romanian Embassy in Uzbekistan invites art lovers to the screenings of these films. Admission is free. Both films will be in Romanian with Uzbek subtitles. The Romanian Cinema Days (December 22-23, 2025) is the final event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan (October 6, 1995). To mark the anniversary, congratulatory letters have already been exchanged between Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Tsoiu and Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov (October 6, 2025), a lecture by Romanian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Cristian Ciobanu at the Tashkent State University of Economics (October 6, 2025), and an exhibition of paintings and installations, "Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Romania," at the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan (November 24 – December 5, 2025).
The Republic of Uzbekistan is a highly valued partner for Romania in Central Asia, and bilateral cooperation is developing very successfully.
