On December 28 in the conference hall of Uzbekistan Hotel was held a working meeting of the Tourism Development Committee with the participation of representatives of government bodies and business entities in the field of tourism.
The event aimed to clarify the provisions of the Presidential Decree of December 2, 2016 "On measures to ensure the speedy development of tourism in Uzbekistan" and to discuss the future plans for their implementation.
The Decree defined the priority areas and activities of the Committee, namely creation and implementation of an integrated tourism development concept, attributing to tourism the strategic status in the economy, implementation of integrated tourism policy.
The meeting was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Senate for international relations, foreign economic relations, foreign investment and tourism S. Safaev, Minister of Labour and Social Protection A. Abdukhakimov, Deputy Foreign Minister D. Hakimov, chairman of the Tourism Development Committee A. Sharapov, employees of ministries and agencies, representatives of over 160 private travel firms and the mass media.
The Tourism Development Committee made three presentations entitled: Preliminary Plan for the Concept of tourism development for 2017-2021, Promotion of tourist potential of Uzbekistan: State, recommendations, proposals, implementation mechanisms and International cooperation and investment in the tourism ".
During the meeting, the most pressing problems in the sphere of tourism were discussed, with travel agencies putting forward a number of problems and ways to resolve them.
