Islam Karimov Jr., the grandson of the late President Islam Karimov and Gulnara Karimova's son, posted an address to the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his Instagram page stating about the pressure being exerted on his mother.
“For unknown reasons, inhumane pressure is being exerted on my mother, which has led to her suffering hypertensive crisis and with doctors not allowed to see her. The parties (one being Prosecutor General Office) had come to certain agreements and conditions, that are known to advocates, the Swiss Prosectuo office. However, apparently there have been some provocations by some officers, which in fact undermine the efforts of the leadership for a calm settlement of our affair” he said.
In his opinion, some officers “are not looking forward to the calm settlement of the affair”.
“I ask the President, whom we have known since our childhood, as a decent man and my grandfather’s apprentice (follower), to pay attention to and listen to what we have to say! My sister is currently staying with our mother and she is now having heart problems, but even under these circumstances the doctors are not being allowed to her. I have concerns for the health of my mother and sister. I very much hope for your help to restore the common sense,” Islam Karimov Jr.said.
Shortly after, the Uzbekistan General Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement deniying allegations of pressure being exerted on Gulnara Karimova and that doctors are allowed to see her.
