Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov today hosted the newly appointed Ambassador of Turkey, Mehmet Süreyya Er, the Ministry said.

The Minister accepted a copy of the Ambassador’s credentials.

The parties discussed the ways to advance multi-faceted bilateral cooperation.

The two-way trade increased by 40%, surpassing US$ 2.2 billion in 2018, with about 75,000 Turkish citizens visiting Uzbekistan, which is almost twice the number to the previous year.

The parties exchanged views on the schedule and agenda of joint events in 2019, the most significant among which is the first meeting of the High Council for Strategic Cooperation chaired by the heads of two states. In this context, the sides reviewed the proposals for the main event of the Uzbek-Turkish political dialogue in 2019.
