President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part at the Dec 25 extraordinary session of Navoi region deputies council, the press service of the Head of State said.
He noted in his statement that in spite of development of industry, infrastructure in the region, there are a number of matters that require serious attention. In particular, the huge opportunities in agricultural products processing industry are not being fully utilized.
On the President's proposal the Chairman of the Budget and Economic Reforms Committee of the Senate, Kabul Tursunov has been elected as Navoi region governor.
The region’s previous governor Erkinjon Turdimov on December 16 was elected as the governor of Surkhandarya region.
