As of July 1, 2019, privatization of non-agricultural land plots will be allowed Uzbekistan for legal and natural persons. This is provided for by the decree of the President’s Measures to Fundamentally Improve the Processes of Urbanization Decree.
According to the decree, as of July 1, 2019, legal persons - residents of Uzbekistan have the right to privatize land plots, on which are located the buildings and constructions, industrial infrastructure facilities, as well as surrounding land necessary for performing of production activities.
At the same time, from July 1, 2019, individuals - citizens of Uzbekistan will be entitled to privatize the land plots provided to them for housing and maintenance of a residential house.
For privatization of land, individuals and legal entities shall submit an application. Local authorities will decide on the privatization of land plots only if there are cadastral documents and for a fee.
Privatized land plots shall become private property (objects of civil circulation) and are inviolable, and are also protected by the state, the decree says.
The President of Uzbekistan instructed the Government to submit to the Legislative Chamber a draft bill on privatization of non-agricultural land plots by April 1. Also before May 1, the Government will have to amend the Land Code.
Funds obtained from land privatization will be accumulated in the Urban Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
