Delegation of Uzatom Agency attended the Seminar: Fukushima Nuclear Disaster and Health Risk Management, organized in Japan by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).
As part of the visit, Director General of UzAtom Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov also held a number of meetings and talks in Japanese departments and companies.
During the seminar attended by the officials of 12 countries, the information was provided on measures taken in Asian countries to prevent and eliminate the effects of natural disasters and ADBI’s related programs. As part of the seminar, the participants visited Fukushima Prefecture as well as the Fukushima Regional Center for Disaster Risk Management, the Fukushima Institute for Renewable Energy, the Fukushima Agricultural Technology Center, the Soma-Futaba Fishermen’s Cooperatives Association, the Fukushima Robotics Test Center and other facilities.
UzAtom delegation also visited the Tokai nuclear power plant and held a meeting with the Director at International Nuclear Energy Cooperation under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Shinjiro Takeda and President of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, Toshio Kodama.
During the meeting, the Japanese side supported the Uzbekistan’s initiative to build nuclear power plants using VVER technology and expressed readiness to cooperate and exchange experience, primarily in the field of personnel training. In particular, it was proposed to organize the training of Uzbek specialists in training centers in Japan.
