The aviation authorities of Uzbekistan and Ukraine are planning to hold talks in Tashkent on resumption of regular flights on Tashkent-Kiev route, Interfax-Ukraine said.
Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Ukraine H.E. Alisher Abdualiyev noted that the last flight on this route dates back to May 2015.
According A. Abdualiev, following the meetings held in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, it is planned to hold talks at the beginning of 2017 between the aviation authorities of the two countries in Tashkent.
In 2013 the national airline of Uzbekistan planned to stop regular Tashkent to Kiev flights, the reason behind reportedly was a conflict with the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), which exerted pressure on the Uzbek partners involving aviation authorities and the diplomatic corps in order to obtain slots of Tashkent International airport. UIA has denied this information, stressing that it was willing to cooperate.
In mid-2014 it was reported that Uzbekistan Airways and UIA agreed in principle before the end of July 2014 to enter into an interline agreement on mutual recognition of transportation documents, as well as code-sharing agreement.
In May 2015, Uzbekistan Airways again to temporarily suspended the flights on Tashkent-Kiev route due to absence of agreement between the aviation authorities of Uzbekistan and Ukraine concerning the operation of the agreed air lines.
Later, the then Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Andriy Pivovarsky expressed hope that the issue of flights on Tashkent-Kiev route will be resolved.
