On December 20, the Central Election Commission Chairman M.Abdusalomov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Uzbekistan, Pamela Spratlen.
The Chairman briefed the Ambassador on the results of the December 4 Uzbekistan's Presidential elections.
During the meeting the sides discussed the issues related to election observation by international observer missions and noted that recommendations of observers from international organizations and foreign states will undoubtedly serve as a basis for further improvement of the election legislation and electoral practice.
H.E. Ambassador Pamela Spratlen informed about the participation of U.S. Embassy officials in monitoring of the Presidential elections. According to them, special attention was paid in Uzbekistan to creating the necessary conditions for free expression of will of citizens, including disability access and the possibility of using blind ballot in Braille.
The Uzbekistan Presidential elections was attended by over 50 observers from the United States, including 20 - as the part of the OSCE/ODIHR observer mission, 20 employees of the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan and 13 scientists, public figures and statesmen.
