Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will hold joint military exercises, the Kazakh media reported. The Uzbek Defense Minister, Abdusalom Azizov is curently in Kazakhstan on a working visit, whre he met with his Kazakh counterpart Saken Zhasuzakov.
The counterparts reportedly discussed the preparations for the upcoming joint military exercises and the promising areas for cooperation.
Saken Zhasuzakov noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will be holding maiden military exercises, with the second phase to be held in Uzbekistan. "I think this is only the beginning. Over time, we will be holding larger-scale drills," he added.
Abdusalom Azizov said that the regular meetings enhance the relationship between the two armies.
After the talks, senior officials of the defense ministries of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed a number of accords on cooperation.
The Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan also familiarized himself with the process of training of officers of the Kazakh army
As part of the official visit, the Uzbek delegation will visit other military facilities and take part in the active phase of the joint tactical-special exercise.
