President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today ordered the launch within 10 days of a system that lets Uzbeks working abroad request help from ambassadors through the Online Mahalla platform.

Mirziyoyev spoke at a meeting on priorities in labor migration held at the Intil International Language and Vocational Training Center in Tashkent’s Uchtepa district.

Under the system, a citizen who runs into trouble abroad will files a request for help online instead of searching for an ambassador or consul. When necessary, the ambassador will go to the citizen in person, protect their rights and find a solution, the president said. He instructed officials to submit proposals to ensure the system works effectively.

“Every one of our fellow countrymen working abroad is a truly courageous person, toiling tirelessly for their family’s livelihood and their children’s future. They are our citizens too, our children. Wherever they work, protecting the rights of our citizens is the state’s constant duty,” Mirziyoyev said.

He stressed that no citizen working abroad should be left alone with a problem.

“What matters is that attitudes toward labor migrants are changing. A person working abroad is now recognized not simply as someone who sends money home, but as a valued citizen entitled to state protection,” the president’s press service said in a statement.
