A man who allegedly tried to break into an ATM at night in Guliston district, Sirdaryo province, in order to steal cash was detained by Security Service officers, the Sirdaryo province police department reported.
The incident took place at around 3:16 a.m. on September 12, on Komiliy Street in the Oltin Vodiy neighbourhood of Guliston district. An alarm was triggered at an ATM belonging to Inkassatsiya Xizmati LLC, alerting the monitoring center of the Security Service under the Sirdaryo province police department.
Responding officers found a man with his face covered standing in front of the machine, using an axe and other tools in an attempt to pry open its exterior casing. When he spotted the security officers, the suspect tried to flee, but was caught by a rapid-response team.
The investigation identified the suspect as D.S., a Guliston district resident, 18. He was taken to the district police department in accordance with standard procedure, with an investigation into the incident now underway.
In December 2025, a similar attempt occurred in Tashkent's Chilonzor district, where an unidentified person tried to pry open an ATM at around 2:30 a.m. to steal the cash inside. A comparable incident was also reported in Navoiy province.
