President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan sent a congratulatory message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the people of Ukraine on the occasion of Ukraine's 35th anniversary of independence. The Uzbek leader sends a similar message to his Ukrainian counterpart every year.
Zelensky published the text of the letter on his page on X.
"I congratulate you and the people of your country on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence... I am confident that, through our joint efforts, relations between our two countries — built on longstanding bonds of friendship and the principles of mutual respect — will continue to develop steadily," the message, written in Ukrainian, read.
Mirziyoyev wished Zelensky good health, family happiness and success in his work, and wished the Ukrainian people peace and prosperity.
In response, Zelensky thanked Mirziyoyev for the greeting and said Ukraine highly values its friendship with Uzbekistan and remains committed to expanding bilateral cooperation, trade and economic ties. He also wished Mirziyoyev good health and success, and wished the people of Uzbekistan a peaceful and prosperous future.
Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry also congratulated the people of Ukraine on Independence Day.
