Tashkent-based wannabe blogger Jafar, who has nearly 500,000 followers on Instagram, has been sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest over a video he posted showing him at a swimming pool.
In the footage, he dives underwater while carrying a young woman in his arms. Law enforcement detained the blogger under Article 183 of the Code of Administrative Liability, Petty hooliganism.
A friend who filmed the video received the same sentence. The original reports did not specify whether the young woman seen in the clip faced any penalty.
Kahramon Khudayberganov, deputy head of the Information and Multimedia Center at the Tashkent City Police Department, wrote on Instagram that the blogger had been handed 10-day arrest, and urged users to flag creators of similar content so that "lawful measures" could be taken against them.
In the comments, some users called for harsher punishment for the blogger, including lengthy prison terms, with many of the messages containing insults.
