Tashkent is exploring the procurement of agricultural products from Afghanistan to secure local food supplies, the press service of the capital’s mayor's office reported.
Representatives from the Tashkent city administration, district-level authorities, and the local business community recently conducted a working visit to Afghanistan as part of an official government delegation.
The capital's administration noted that the mission aimed to boost bilateral trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan—specifically Tashkent—while expanding export potential across several sectors, including textiles, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and automotive manufacturing.
On July 25, the Tashkent delegation participated in targeted negotiations in the Bamyan and Herat provinces.
'During the meetings, the parties discussed establishing trading houses in these regions, as well as purchasing agricultural products to stabilize prices across Tashkent markets and reinforce food security,' the official statement read.
The Tashkent administration added that the talks concluded with several 'mutually beneficial and promising agreements' for future cooperation.
