Uzbekistan ranked 96th in the annual Global Children's Rights Index (KidsRights Index), published by the Dutch KidsRights Foundation. This is according to the organization's 2026 report, prepared in collaboration with Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The index evaluates 194 countries that are parties to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child across five core categories: life, health, education, protection, and an enabling environment. For 2026, Uzbekistan scored 0.679 points. The country's performance across the five categories is broken down as follows: life (95th), health (15th), education (101st), protection (115th), and enabling environment (124th). Overall, Uzbekistan dropped two spots compared to last year.

In 2026, the index leaders were Luxembourg (0.871 points out of a perfect 1.0), Iceland (0.867), Monaco, and Germany (both with 0.866 points). The top ten also included the Netherlands, Norway, Greece, Belgium, Slovenia, as well as Austria and Thailand, which tied for the final spots.

Among Central Asian nations, Kazakhstan secured the highest spot at 24th. Turkmenistan ranked 75th, Kyrgyzstan 82nd, and Tajikistan 92nd.

For further comparison, China ranked 81st, Russia 151st, Israel 110th, Ukraine 36th, and the United Kingdom 132nd. The United States is absent from the ranking, as it only recently signed but has not yet ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Published annually since 2013, the KidsRights Index is the only global ranking that assesses the adherence to children's rights using comparable year-over-year statistical data. Governments, human rights organizations, and financial institutions utilize this research as a baseline guide to make informed decisions and draft recommendations aimed at improving the well-being of children worldwide.
