Uzbekistan supports Turkmenistan’s peaceful foreign policy, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov said at an international conference "Neutrality Policy and Preventive Diplomacy in International Relations: Experience of Turkmenistan and Its Significance " in Ashgabat.
In his remarks, the Minister on behalf of the Uzbekistan delegation congratulated the Turkmen people on the national holiday - the 22nd anniversary of the proclamation of Turkmenistan's neutrality.
"The international recognition of Turkmenistan’s neutrality was the turning point, which in many aspects predetermined the main stages of state building and priorities of the Turkmenistan’s foreign policy," Kamilov said.
Minister Kamilov noted that "Uzbekistan supports the peaceful foreign policy of an independent and neutral Turkmenistan." In 2017, Uzbek-Turkmen ties were elevated to a new level. The state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkmenistan in March this year was a significant event in the bilateral ties, which resulted in the signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries.
On the same day the Uzbek delegation took part in the international conference "The UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia: 10 Years of Cooperation with Central Asia for the Peace and Prosperity of the Region”.
