A total of 30 bundles of narcotics hidden beneath loaves of bread were discovered inside a parked Chevrolet Lacetti near the Kuyluk Bazaar in Tashkent. The total seizure weighed 34.81 kg, consisting of 12.96 kg of opium and 21.65 kg of hashish.

The joint operation was carried out by the State Security Service (DXX) and internal affairs agencies. According to the DXX press service, the driver of the vehicle was a 58-year-old resident of the Sariosiyo district in the Surxondaryo province, who has a prior criminal record. He was accompanied in the vehicle by a 42-year-old native of Denov who currently resides in Tashkent.

The DXX noted that narcotics of this nature are typically smuggled into the country from abroad.

A criminal case has been opened against both men under the Criminal Code. They face charges of conspiracy to commit large-scale narcotics smuggling (Article 28 through Article 246, Part 2) and preparation for the illegal sale of large quantities of narcotics, their analogues, or psychotropic substances (Article 25 through Article 273, Part 5). The suspects have been remanded in custody.
