A new border post has been opened in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken province along the frontier with Uzbekistan, according to a report by the 24.kg news agency.
The launch of the Sogment border post is hailed as a major milestone in strengthening national security and ensuring long-term stability across the frontier zones.
"The new Sogment border post is fully equipped to maintain a high standard of security operations," the report states. "A modern barracks meeting contemporary standards has been constructed, and all essential infrastructure has been established for personnel on duty. Border guards stationed at this outpost will be responsible for securing a segment of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border stretching over 12 kilometers."
This development follows earlier announcements that several other provincial crossing points are transitioning to round-the-clock operations. These include the "Fergana" border customs post, the Oq Qiya customs checkpoint leading into the Shakhimardan enclave, and the Chashma customs checkpoint at the Sokh border customs post.
