A 37-year-old man wanted in connection with a drug-related offense has been deported from the United States back to Uzbekistan, the Interior Ministry reported.
The accused had been on the run since being placed on a wanted list in 2023. He was ultimately apprehended in New York City through a coordinated operation involving the Operational Investigation Department of the Ministry, U.S. law enforcement agencies, and the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan.
"As part of our ongoing international partnerships, internal affairs bodies will systematically continue operational intelligence measures to locate individuals who have committed crimes and are evading investigators or the courts. Our goal remains to ensure they face justice, regardless of where they hide," the Minstry stated.
