In the Davlatabad district, a 5th-grade student has tragically died after being electrocuted. The incident was reported by the Millar news program.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred on May 5 at approximately 7:37 PM. The boy, 13, climbed on top of a high-voltage electrical transformer to pick and eat cherries when he suffered a fatal electric shock.
The deceased boy had been living under the care of his aunt, while his mother worked abroad.
"My nephew came home from school and went outside, saying he was going to play football with his friends," the boy's aunt said. "Since we don't have a proper playground nearby, they were playing at the end of the street. We didn't see exactly what happened—whether he accidentally touched the transformer or something else—but there was a sudden flash and an explosion."
The aunt further alleged that the boy was rushed to a nearby clinic, but failed to receive emergency medical care.
"Because the Guzal Hospital was too far, they took him down to the Gishtli Clinic. But they didn't administer any first aid there," she explained. "I spent over an hour searching for the boy. I finally tracked his location down through the 103 emergency hotline and rushed to the clinic. By the time we arrived, he was already dead."
The grieving family members also pointed out that there were no protective safety fences installed around the high-voltage transformer.
"If the sides of the transformer had been enclosed with safety fences, we wouldn't be dealing with the electric company right now. The power grid operators are entirely responsible for this. The wires are still hanging loose, and even now, the unit remains unlocked. All they did after the incident was tidy up some stray wiring, but they still haven't installed a proper barrier," the deceased boy's aunt stated.
The district prosecutor and an investigative-operational team from the police department immediately dispatched to the scene. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to establish the exact cause of the boy's death. Furthermore, authorities announced that an internal management audit is being launched into the conduct and oversight of the Davlatabad District Electrical Networks enterprise staff.
This tragedy follows a similar recent horror in Namangan, where a 4-year-old boy wandered into an exposed, unsecured high-voltage transformer substation and tragically lost both of his arms.
