Between January and March 2026, households across Uzbekistan earned over 73.9 billion soums by selling surplus electricity generated from their home solar panels back to the national grid, the Tax Committee said.

A total of 45.2 thousand individuals have taken advantage of the subsidies offered through the Solar Home program. On a provinceal level, the Bukhara province led the way with 16.5 billion soums in payouts, followed by Khorezm (13.3 billion soums) and Kashkadarya (9.1 billion soums). Other significant contributors included the Republic of Karakalpakstan at 7.6 billion soums, Navoi at 5.9 billion soums, and Samarkand at 3.9 billion soums.

To put this growth into perspective, during the same three-month period in 2025, only 12,746 individuals received subsidies totaling 8.1 billion soums. In just one year, the number of participants has surged nearly 3.5 times, while the total amount paid out has skyrocketed ninefold.

Under the Solar Home initiative launched in April 2023, individuals who install solar panels receive a subsidy of 1,000 soums for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity transmitted to the unified power grid. Participants can easily transfer these funds to their bank cards via the Soliq mobile app by navigating to the Solar Home section within the Cashback and Benefits menu.
