President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recently reviewed a presentation on the progress of reforms and strategic priorities for AI and digitalization.
According to the presidential press service, a $24 million GPU cluster has already been established to bolster AI infrastructure, with an additional $45 million in hardware slated for acquisition by the end of the year. The president emphasized that the priority must be the effective utilization of these resources, ensuring they are integrated into practical solutions across various economic sectors.
The presentation also detailed plans to systematize over 130 databases across industries including healthcare, energy, transport, customs, taxation, and agriculture. This initiative aims to create a unified data environment conducive to the deployment of advanced AI models.
These advancements are expected to expand the reach of public services, enhance the quality of analytics and management decisions, and reduce overall economic costs.
Furthermore, the government is placing a significant focus on employment, aiming to provide IT jobs for 300,000 young people by 2030. To achieve this, Uzbekistan plans to expand its regional digital ecosystems, stimulate job creation, and increase the volume of export-oriented IT services.
Among the key initiatives are the opening of new IT Park Uzbekistan branches in Samarkand, Namangan, Sirdaryo, and Bukhara, alongside the establishment of a premier Research and Development (R&D) center in Nurafshon.
This sprawling 7.3-hectare R&D hub will feature six high-tech laboratories, a computing center powered by 200 GPUs, a dedicated startup campus, and a commercialization center. With an estimated total cost of $200 million, the project is scheduled for phased implementation between 2027 and 2031.
