A 2.5 minute footage showing a man brutally beating his 4-year-old daughter, named Mumina was aired on Uzbekistan channel's Uchburchak (transl. Triangle) program last week.
In the footage the father is heard yelling "You, dirty. I do not need you. Your mother has been in Turkey for two years now. Now I will give the dog's time to you. When are you leaving? Collect your stuff and get out of my house,“ .
Mumina cries to her father begging not to beat her but the father beats her even more harshly. Her father chases her daughter out of the house after beating her. The footage was taken in April of this year.
The girl's father was identified as the Mirabad district police officer. When the footage became public he was sacked from his job and is now facing several charges:
"The man has been dismissed from the police department. A criminal case has been initiated against him at least on 4 articles of the Uzbek Criminal Code. The case against Muminya's father is being investigated by the Chilanzar district prosecutor's office,“ a source in the police said.
A source close to Mumina's family, living in Tashkent's Nafosat makhalla said that the daughter's mother left for Turkey two years ago and returned to Tashkent in October this year and appealed to the court to get her children back:
"This woman left for Turkey to work and went missing for two years. The man reportedly shot the footage and sent it to his wife to take revenge for her long absence. When she arrived in Tashkent, she passed the video to the police”, a person close to the family said.
