Samarkand yesterday hosted the regular meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union - Central Asia format took place in Forumlar Majmuasi palace.
The foreign minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov of Kazakhstan, the foreign minister Erlan Abdyldaev of the Kyrgyz Republic, the foreign minister Sirodzhiddin Aslov of Tajikistan, the foreign minister Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini and Commissioner EU on international cooperation and development Neven Mimica discussed topical issues of cooperation.
Special attention was paid to future relations in this format, prospects for economic development of the region, as well as regional cooperation and security issues.
The “EU and Central Asia: Working for a Safer and Successful Future Together" Joint Communiqué was adopted following the meeting,.
It was decided to hold the next meeting of the foreign ministers in 2018 in Brussels.
