Uzbekistan and Russia signed a cooperation plan between the defense ministries for 2025 and a program for strategic military partnership for 2026-2030, the press service of the Uzbek Defense Ministry reported.

The ceremony took place today in Tashkent. The accords were signed by the defense ministers Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov and Andrey Belousov.

The 2025 cooperation plan includes 50 joint events in all areas of activity of the military departments of the two countries, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

At a bilateral meeting held at the central office of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, the minister Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov underscored that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation in many areas serves to strengthen bilateral ties.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the state of Uzbek-Russian cooperation in the field of defense and the prospects for its development.

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov emphasized that "Russia and Uzbekistan are strategic partners and long-standing friends." According to him, cooperation between Moscow and Tashkent "has reached a high level of mutual understanding and continues to expand."

"This is especially important in the current international situation. The leaders of Russia and Uzbekistan pay great attention to the development of ties between the security agencies of the two countries. Our joint work has a significant impact on ensuring security in the Central Asian region, so we attach great importance to today's meeting," Andrei Belousov stated.

After the official reception, the Russian military delegation visited the Victory Park memorial complex and laid flowers at the foot of the Ode to Fortitude monument.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also received the Russian Defense Minister, the presidential press service said.

The parties discussed the ways to advance and strengthen the Uzbek-Russian relations in the context of implementing the agreements reached during the state visit of the Russian President to Uzbekistan in May 2024.

They underscored the importance of expanding cooperation between the defense departments of the two countries in accordance with the adopted program and planning documents.
