Explosion occurred in an explosives workshop of Shams Ltd mining firm in Kagan district of Bukhara province Saturday morning, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The explosion resulted in a fire, with seven fire crews dispatched to extinguish it. The fire was extinguished at 10:27 a.m.

Reportedly, at the time of the explosion, 30 people were in the workshop; four were killed and four sustained minor injuries. Two of the injured were discharged after receiving medical care.

At the directive of the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a government commission was formed, headed by Abduvakkos Rafikov, Chairman of the Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety Committee under the Cabinet of Ministers.

The commission is tasked with providing assistance to the victims, eliminating the consequences of the explosion, determining the cause, and developing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Earlier on December 2, a gas cylinder exploded in a cafe in Gulistan (Syrdarya province). Twenty-nine people were injured, three of whom died. Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the victims the day before. He emphasized that "the tragedy should serve as a major lesson" for the emergency prevention system. During the winter months, all those responsible for preventing similar incidents have been instructed to operate around the clock.
