At the government meeting in Navoi, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon the outcomes of Sunday's elections to the Legislative Chamber and local councils. His wishes were provided by his spokesman, Sherzod Asadov.
The elections testified to the fundamental reforms paving the path to a New Uzbekistan and became a vivid manifestation of the country's democratic development, the president said.
He thanked the public for their high political culture and activity, and for responsible attitude to their civic duty, and congratulated everyone who was honored to become a people's representative.
System of new representative bodies has been formed in the country following the elections, the rights and powers of which have been significantly strengthened, Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored.
"Thus, our country is entering a new era, a new stage of democratic development," he said.
"I believe that deputies at all levels are dedicated people who deeply understand their responsibility, who work tirelessly to build a New Uzbekistan, ensure a free and prosperous life for our people, mobilize all their knowledge and experience for the development of the Motherland," the head of state emphasized.
He underscored that "the election programs of parties and candidates for deputies reflect the dreams, problems and concerns of our citizens, and ways to solve existing problems."
"Our people are waiting for your new ideas and initiatives with great hope and faith. Our country expects a lot from new members of parliament and local councils," the president said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished the deputies strength, success and good luck in fulfilling the important tasks facing them.
