On September 23, the Yunusabad district criminal court began a trial on the case against the former chief of Toshshahartranskhizmat (a government body responsible for Tashkent public transport), Anvar Juraev.

He was arrested in February at the request of the Deputy Prosecutor General. At that time, it was reported that the case was being handled by the State Security Service and that Juraev was suspected of colluding with the company's chief engineer and the heads of branches of two bus depots to steal spare parts and fuel.

In total, 21 people are accused, 8 of whom are now in custody. The presiding judge at the trial is Umidbek Musaev. The prosecution is represented by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Yunusabad District, Parpiev.

The trial was declared open, but the court prohibited journalists from taking photos, recording videos, or recording audio of the trial.

At the first session, the presiding judge announced the list of defendants:

  • Anvar Juraev, 42 — former head of Toshshahartranskhizmat, no previous convictions;
  • Abdujamil Azizov, 52 — former deputy chairman of Toshshahartranskhizmat, no previous convictions (Article 135 of the Code of Administrative Offenses — driving vehicles by persons without documents stipulated by traffic rules);
  • Najmiddin Davlatov, 61 — former deputy chairman of Toshshahartranskhizmat, no previous convictions;
  • Dilshod Ashirmatov, 42 — head of the 1st bus depot, no previous convictions;

The presiding judge stated that since most of the defendants in custody had not received indictments, the case was postponed for a week, i.e. until September 30.
