Sales of electric vehicles dropped in Uzbekistan in August. According to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the sales during the month stood at 1.7 thousand units, which is almost twice less than in the previous month.

Broke down by provinces, a decrease in sales was recorded in 5 provinces, the Tashkent city accounted for over 90 percent of the total decrease, sales in Tashkent decreased by 66 percent. Sales of new electric cars fell by 53 percent during the month, while the decline in the secondary market was 37 percent. Sales of used electric cars increased by 20% year-on-year.

Overall, August sales of passenger cars rose 11 percent to 102,000 units, the highest since February 2024.

Broke down by provinces, the highest growth in passenger car sales in August was recorded in Surkhandarya (54 percent), Fergana (25.4 percent) and Andijan (24.8 percent) provinces.
