Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Probation Bill into Law on Wednesday, the press service of the Ministry of Justice said today.
The Probation Service of the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be the authorized body in charge of the probation.
According to the Law, a person will be registered for probation by an employee of the probation department at the person's place of residence by entering information into the probation information system.
An electronic tracking device (electronic bracelet) will be used in relation to a person under probation supervision, officially warned about his failure to comply with the requirements of the procedure for serving a sentence in the form of restriction of freedom or brought to administrative responsibility for offenses related to the violation of public order during the period of serving a sentence in the form of restriction of freedom.
The behavior of persons under probation supervision will be assessed every three months, and the findings of the assessment will be reflected in their socio-psychological portraits.
The Law will take effect on the day of its official publication.
It should be noted that the Probation Service has been operating in Uzbekistan since January 1, 2019. Under probation, a conditionally convicted person is under supervision for the duration of the probationary period. In 2020, plans were announced to introduce 3,000 electronic bracelets into the work of the Probation Service.
