Ulugbek Rozukulov has been appointed as director general of the flagship airline Uzbekistan Airways, replacing Valeriy Tyan, a source in the government said.
Valeriy Tyan was in charge of the carrier since June 2002. Prior to that, from 1998 to 2002, he was in charge of the Flights Safety Supervision Office.
A graduate of the Krasnokutsk Flight School and the Academy of Civil Aviation (Leningrad), Valery Tyan flew as an aircraft commander on An-2, An-24, Il-62, Il-76, Il-86, A-310 and Boeing 757/767.
On August 23, Ulugbek Rozukulov was dismissed from the post by Uzbekistan's Deputy PM and Chairman of the Board of UzAvtoSanoat.
