The sentence of a 67-year-old music teacher who attempted to rape a minor student in Tashkent has been upheld, the press service of the Children's Ombudsman Surayo Rakhmonova, who oversaw the case, said.

Nevertheless, the music teacher tried to appeal the decision in the appellate instance of the Tashkent City Criminal Court, but at the last hearing on July 26, the court upheld the sentence.
The press service of the Children's ombudsman noted that due to the amendments to the legislation on the protection of women and children from violence, the convicted person will not be able to claim a reduction in the term of serving his sentence.
“It is important to note that today our courts are even more determined to reliably ensure the rights of the child and a priority approach to protecting the interests of the child. It is necessary to continue this approach more steadily and to form a unified judicial practice in the republic in this regard.
