Ceremony took place on February 21 at Hairatan station dedicated to the reconstruction and repair of the Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railway line connecting Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, the press service of Uzbekistan Railways said.

The Uzbekistan Railways sent 120 workers to the site to complete the phase I of the project.

At phase I, it is planned to deliver freight cars to the Naibabad station. To this end, comprehensive restoration work will be organized in parallel in Park B of the Hairatan station and on the 57th km of the line.

The chiefs of the railway authorities of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan agreed in November last year to repair the section of the Hairatan-Naibabad-Mazar-e-Sharif railway.

According to the Afghan authorities, the CEO of Uzbekistan Railways Zufar Narzullaev, promised to carry out repairs “with high quality and at a reasonable price, providing a 50% discount.”
