Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a government meeting on January 8 dedicated to job creation and easing doing business, the presidential press service said.
According to official statistics, the number of unemployed Uzbeks is 1.3 million. This year, another 2.4 million people will join the labor market, the president underscored at the meeting.
Taking this into account, the president unveiled the plan to create 5 million (!?) jobs in 2024. In particular, 2.5 million jobs will be created in the services sector, 2.1 million in agriculture, 250 thousand in investment projects and industry, 140 thousand in construction, he noted.
While, it is planned to involve 2 million people into doing business through the introduction of new financial instruments, including a new microfinance system.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the presented program for creating new jobs for 2024.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance has been instructed to identify additional reserves and opportunities for creating new jobs.
