Tashkent hosted the first meeting of the Uzbek-Russian coordination working group of chiefs of departments of the Interior Minostries.

"The parties reportedly discussed various aspects of cooperation with respect to exchange of information in the field of investigation, fighting organized crime, extremism, drug trafficking and illegal migration," the the Uzbek Interior Ministry said.

First Deputy Interior Minister of Uzbekistan, Major-General Davron Nazarmukhamedov briefed the attendees on the progress of police reform in Uzbekistan in line with the aims of Uzbekistan’s Development Strategy for 2017-2022.

The Russian delegation was headed by the head of the Main Office for Countering Extremism of the Russian Interior Ministry, Major-General Timur Valiulin.

The parties agreed to hold the second meeting in Moscow in mid-2018, in which the sides are expected to discuss the implementation of the agreements reached during the first meeting.
