President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, by his decree of July 4, awarded Mirabror Usmonov, who is marking his 70th anniversary, with Dustlik (transl. Friendship) Order.
Mirabror Usmonov is a famous statesman, notably in 1990-1992 he was the Minister of Trade, in 1992-1994 - Chairman of UzbekSavdo, in 1994-2005 - Deputy Prime Minister.
Since 2006, he has been the president of Uzbekistan Football Federation. In 2013-2016, he served concurrently as President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC).
Since 2005, he served as senator and at present he is deputy chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism.
As noted in the Presidential decree, Mirabror Usmonov has been awarded the order for his many years of dedicated work in public administration and government organizations.
In the congratulatory message on the NOC website, it said that under the leadership of Mirabror Umanov Uzbekistan achieved the best results at the Olympic Games. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Uzbekistan won 13 medals, taking the 21st place in the medal standings.
Mirabror Usmonov is also the holder of the Mehnat Shuhrati (1995), Fidokorona Hizmatlari Uchun (2007) and El-Yurt Khurmati (2011) awards. Also he was awarded the Golden Order of the Asian Olympic Council and FIFA’s Order of Merit.
