China plans to simplify entry for Uzbeks to the country. This is stated in the joint statement of the countries following the meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping on May 18.

The parties noted that the agreement signed in 2019 between the governments of the countries on the facilitation of visa procedures for business people “opened up broad prospects for strengthening bilateral ties and developing economic, trade and investment cooperation.

The Chinese authorities highly vlued the 10-day visa-free entry to Uzbekistan for Chinese nationals and was ready to take measures to facilitate the entry of Uzbeks into China, the statement said.

It should be noted that from March 2021, Chinese citizens can enter Uzbekistan without visas for a period of 10 days. While Uzbeks are currently required to apply for a visa to travel to China.

China is ready to fully support Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and provide the necessary assistance in this.

“Uzbekistan firmly supports the One China policy and reaffirms that the Chinese government is the only legitimate government representing all of China and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. Reaffirming that Uzbekistan will not conduct any official ties with Taiwan and firmly supports the peaceful development of relations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and all efforts made by the Chinese government to achieve national reunification," the statement said.

China is ready to expand imports of high-quality agricultural products from Uzbekistan and accelerate the approval of quarantine permits for certain categories of agricultural and livestock products.

Uzbekistan invited Chinese companies to participate in solar, wind and hydropower projects in Uzbekistan. The Uzbek authorities are ready to introduce Chinese technologies and capital, localize renewable energy projects and the production of related equipment in Uzbekistan, and jointly train specialists.

"Both parties will work together to ensure the stable operation of the China-Central Asia gas pipeline and deliveries in accordance with the agreed plan," the statement said.

Uzbekistan and China believe that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project is of historical importance in strengthening the connection between the two countries and the region. The parties are satisfied with the completion of the feasibility study of the project and are ready to jointly contribute to the finalization and preparation for the start of construction of the railway.

Both parties are ready to expedite the China-Central Asia railway project, promote the China-Central Asia rail container transportation, ensure the swift operation of the China-Tajikistan-Uzbekistan highway and increase the volume of cargo transportation.
